UAE hourly wage calculator

Enter a monthly salary to see the hourly, daily and weekly equivalents on the standard UAE basis of 30 days and 8 hours a day.

Estimate only. Uses 30 days per month, 8 hours per day and a six-day week.

How to convert a UAE salary to an hourly wage

The standard calculation divides the monthly salary by 30 working days and 8 hours per day, so a month counts as 240 hours. A monthly salary of AED 8,000 works out to AED 33.33 per hour, AED 266.67 per day and AED 1,600 per week on a six-day week.

Where the hourly figure is used

Your hourly wage sets the value of overtime. Ordinary overtime is 125% of it, and night or rest-day overtime is 150%. The same figure also helps when you compare a full-time offer with shift work, or when you want to know what a few unpaid extra hours cost you each month.

Why the result differs from your payslip

Employers sometimes use 26 working days instead of 30, or treat the week as five days rather than six. Each choice changes the numbers. The statutory default is the one used here, but your contract may specify another basis, and the difference matters most in overtime, where the hourly rate is multiplied.

Basic salary or total salary?

For anything the law calculates, use the basic salary: overtime and gratuity both rest on it. For a personal view of what your time is worth, the total salary you actually receive is the fairer input. The calculator gives the honest answer for whichever figure you enter, so decide which question you are asking first.

Hourly wage questions

How do I calculate my hourly wage in the UAE?

Divide the monthly salary by 30 days and then by 8 hours. For AED 8,000 a month that is 8,000 ÷ 240 = AED 33.33 an hour.

Why is a month treated as 30 days?

It is the statutory basis used for overtime and for the daily basic wage in gratuity, so the same monthly figure gives consistent results across the calculators.

Does a five-day week change the hourly rate?

No. The hourly rate comes from the monthly salary, not the number of days worked, so it stays the same. The weekly figure changes only if you enter a different number of days.

Is the hourly wage based on basic or total salary?

For overtime and gratuity, always the basic salary. For a personal view of what your time is worth, the total salary you receive is the fairer input.

How many hours are in a UAE working month?

240 hours, from 30 days at 8 hours a day. That is the figure the overtime calculator uses.
