If you are leaving a job or thinking about leaving one, the gratuity calculator answers what the end-of-service benefit is worth. If this month's timesheet has extra hours on it, the overtime calculator works out what your employer should add for them. If you are weighing a job offer, comparing a shift rate, or wondering what an unpaid extra hour costs you, start with the hourly wage calculator.
Why the basic salary decides the answer
All three calculators work from the basic salary in your contract, which is usually lower than the amount that reaches your bank. UAE pay is commonly split into a basic component and allowances for housing, transport or similar costs. Gratuity and overtime are both calculated on the basic component, so a contract that keeps the basic figure low produces a smaller gratuity and a lower overtime rate than the total package suggests.
If you only know your total monthly pay, ask HR for the basic figure before you rely on any number here. The difference is not small: on a package of AED 10,000 with a basic of AED 4,000, overtime is calculated on the smaller figure.
How the three figures connect
The hourly wage is the starting point. Overtime is a multiple of it, and the daily basic wage that gratuity uses is the monthly basic divided by 30. Raise the basic salary and all three answers move together, which is why getting the correct basic figure matters more than any other input.
Working through one example makes the link clear. A monthly basic of AED 8,000 is AED 33.33 an hour, so an hour of ordinary overtime is about AED 41.67. Over a year, the same basic builds gratuity at 21 days of basic wage for each of the first five years.
What these calculators leave out
The results are estimates for a full-time, unlimited-term contract, following the labour law. Dismissal for cause under Article 44, long unpaid leave, gaps in service and company schemes sit outside the calculation. For a figure you can act on, confirm it with your HR department or with MOHRE.
Working out what to do with the money afterwards is a separate question. For a transfer to India, compare the exchange house rates and check the live AED to INR rate before you send.
Questions about the UAE salary calculators
Are these UAE salary calculators free?
Yes. The hub and all three calculators are free to use and need no account. Nothing is stored: the figures you type stay in your browser.
Which salary figure should I enter?
Use the monthly basic salary from your contract. For overtime and gratuity this is the figure the law applies, and it is usually lower than your total pay.
Are the results legally binding?
No. They are estimates that follow the labour law rules. Your employer, and MOHRE in a dispute, decides the final amount.
Do the calculators work on a phone?
Yes. They are plain web pages, so they work on any phone browser and do not need an app or an internet connection once the page has loaded.
Get rate alerts on your phone
The Android app carries the live AED to INR rate, alerts you when your target is reached, and has the same UAE salary calculators built in. Free, no account needed.
